The Sunday Six 2/25

  1. Last weekend my husband and I decided to rewatch River, starring Stellan Skarsgard. We watched it YEARS ago, but neither of us could remember much about it. I wondered if it would hold up and it more than did. Suspenseful, yet moving, populated with so many truly original characters, if you’re looking for something to binge, we were able to watch it over two nights.
  2. Also last weekend, I made a soup that I’ve made several times. Several friends asked for the recipe, which I really don’t have because I just made it up as I went along. But here’s what I did: put chicken breasts in the crockpot and season them with garlic salt and pepper, (I also added some Badia Complete), then add some frozen chopped onion and frozen chopped mixed veggies, cover the whole kit and caboodle with chicken broth, plus go over with the broth by several inches, which you will need later. Cook for about 4-6 hours— just till your chicken and veggies are cooked through. Shred the chicken and return to the pot, then add a package of gnocchi. Put the lid back on and let the gnocchi cook for about 20 more minutes. It’s really good, if I do say so myself. We served it with salad and French bread. My advice: make it before the weather turns warm because it’s particularly delicious on a cold night.I Will Tell You This is a reader-supported publication. 3. There’s a new feature I’ve started over at The Book Tide. We are calling it The TWITCH, which stands for This Week in True Crime Happenings. The whole thing came out of a joke I made with my Book Tide cohorts Abby and Ariel about how I really don’t know much about news that goes on in the world, unless it’s true crime news. Now that, I know. So, we decided why not collate all that random knowledge into a digest for all the other folks out there, who, like me, gravitate towards true crime? So we are giving it a shot! If that sounds interesting, I hope you’ll come over there and check it out. Then I hope you’ll subscribe and keep coming back.
  4. Along those lines— just a disclaimer— as I get used to providing that content each week (there’s a good bit of research involved, as you can imagine), it’s cutting into the time I have to create content over here, plus write my book that is due 10/1/24. But I still have plans to run the series on how my book that is out 10/1/24 came to be. (Yes, yes, I do have a book due and a book releasing on the same day!) My story is a lesson in not giving up on your dreams and I hope you all find something inspiring in it!
  5. When not spending time with family this weekend, I was engaging, in my downtime, in the recent viral phenomena known as Who The F Did I Marry? I kept hearing about it, but don’t have Tik Tok, so I decided to search it on You Tube and, lo and behold, several kind folks had uploaded the saga in its entirety. This afternoon I wrapped up all 7.5 hours and will be diving deeper into the other players in the story who’ve gone public— there’s rumors of Legion’s other wives and— possibly?— Legion himself speaking out. I heard that Reese Teesa has— if not sold film rights— then at least has several interested parties. I hope they pay her a crap ton of money and she can go get that X5 herself, in navy blue, with cognac interior, of course! I so appreciated her vulnerability and her transparency. That takes guts. And that kind of bravery should be, in my opinion, rewarded.
  6. Here’s a photo of the most adorable baby in the world being her adorable, spunky self this weekend. She’s already trying to talk, and we all know once she figures it out, she’s going to have lots to say. We can’t wait to hear it all.
